Pehchaan is a NGO that was founded on April 2009 by 3 young college students working towards uplifting talent of underprivileged children. Pehchaan basically focuses on making the children self reliant by working on their artistic skills. Our vision is opening various centers for promoting extracurricular and vocational training centers nationwide. We believe in giving an identity to the underprivileged children. Today we have a team of around 70 young collegians from different streams and professions sharing their extra curricular and vocational training to the slum children. We are presently operating in 4 centres in Ahmedabad with more than 500 children in the disciplines of dance, music, drawing, craft, yoga, karate, photography, acting etc. Our main idea behind this is to give them proper platform, interact with the society, know the nuances of the life and culture and stand confidently in front of the society. We also make them realize to enjoy their learning with fun. That is education along with extra curricular activities.
As we strongly believe in these causes, we have helped these children gain confidence by making them perform at various places and meet the cricket stars like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, M. S. Dhoni and V.V.S. Laxman.
Meeting the cricketers:
20 children from Manav Sadhna got a wonderful opportunity to meet the Indian cricketers. It was thanks to Mr. Sanjay Srivastava (I.G of Police) to give such a good opportunity to these children. The children met selected cricketers and interacted with them almost for an hour. They were very happy talking to the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar and talking to them about their life and situation. Sachin Tendulkar was really touched and he took Pehchaan’s visiting card and inspire us to stand and encourage is more for the upliftment of the movement.
Performed at IIM- Ahmedabad ‘Chaos- 2010’:
IIM is one of the most renowned B- School in Asia ad we have one center there also where we take this all activities and within this process we got the opportunity to perform on the stage with bollywood stars. It was a great experience for the children that boosted up their confidence as they put up a performance that got a standing ovation from a crowd of around 4,000 people. All the volunteers of Pehchaan were very vert happy after this performance because they saw that the children had a lot of talent and realized that they are working for the right cause by helping these children.
